outside these buildings is as interesting as what's inside. The

artiste Andre Smith, is a combination of Aztec Mayan motif and
concrete relief carvings, one of the few remaining examples of
fantasy architecture in the southeastern United States. The building
is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The center exhibits contemporary fine arts, including photography,
painting, and sculpture; serves as a cultural center; and has
two artists in residence. Fine arts classes are taught by 25 instructors.
